Make Money with Post Level Text Link Ads

Post Level Text Link Ads allows advertisers to place links on related blog posts of their choice for a fixed monthly amount.

In October, Text Link Ads had a special promotional offer , so I decided to experiment with a high converting affiliate offer to measure its ROI and overall effectiveness.

Step by Step Tutorial on How to Buy & Make Money with Text Link Ads

Step 1. Log into Your Text link Ads Account. If you don’t already have an account, click here to receive a free $100 coupon when you join as an advertiser.

Step 2. Conduct a keyword search to bring up any blog posts related to your offer. Do this by typing in your related keyword in the box under “Search Blog Posts.” In this example, I will search for “Apple iPods” in the post level ad network.

Step 3. We get a long list of search results that we may sort by link popularity and price. Let’s sort the results by link popularity (aka Google PageRank), so we can tell how Google views each blog post.

Step 4. Now, we must conduct some research to determine which links to purchase. While Post Level Text Link Ads doesn’t reveal the URL of the blog posts, you can gather a pretty good guess of what the URL is by implementing a simple Google search query.

Simply copy the post title, then paste the title into your Google search box. Now, surround the title with quotes to conduct a phrase match.

Example:

Title: 20 Tools To Make your Ipod Better

Enter “20 Tools To Make your Ipod Better” into Google, and search for the results that MATCHES the link popularity rating at Text Link Ads.

Step 5. Make sure the blog post receives a good amount of traffic. When I saw the title “ 20 Tools To Make your Ipod Better,” I knew this was a high traffic post because the title screamed high quality all the way.

Also, it received tons of trackbacks from other blogs, and I bet this page receives at least 100 uniques per day. For just $6.40 per month, that’s a damn good deal in my opinion.

Step 6. Once we choose the post we which to target, it’s time to write ad creative. Make your hypertext headline clickable by offering a cool benefit or special incentive. People click and buy on emotion, not logic.

Since the blog post offered general iPod tips, I tried to sell visitors on the new iPod touch from Apple.com. Visitors to this page already have the older iPod because they are searching for iPod tips, but I doubt everyone has upgraded to the new iPod touch version.

Here’s my ad:

Step 7. Remember to send your visitors to a landing page or through a cloaked link to protect your commissions. No direct linking using your ugly, long affiliate link, please!

I recommend using Affiliate Link Cloaker to mask your affiliate links. You can watch me using Affiliate Link Cloaker in action on Google Video.

Step 8. Enter your payment information, and Text Link Ads will review your order for validity.

Is Post Level Text Link Ads ROI Worth it?

I spent $6.40 to post my iPod affiliate offer. Since I receive $2.99 per conversion, I only need two sales per month to break even.

Depending on how well my advertisement converts, it may be worth scaling this offer in the future. I will report my statistics, conversions, and ROI sometime next month.

I hope this post motivates you to experiment with targeted advertisements via the Text Link Ads network.

If you have any positive/negative experiences with post level text link ads, then leave them in the comments, please.

Thanks Tariq for the information. I have signed up today and wait for the validation email to arrive. I am looking to use it to generate income for my blog rather than to advertise my product, but as you say for advertising it does sound cost efficient. I guess this is an Adsense alternative.

    Hey John,

Actually, my iPOD affiliate offer was rejected, and Text Link Ads refunded my money. I will experiment with advertising my a few of my websites in the future.
