Lucky Strike Lanes Washington DC Review
- 0 Comments... What do you have to say?
I spent my Saturday night at Lucky Strike Lanes, a local 7th street Washington, DC bar. The front doors were guarded by two NFL size bouncers which reminded of me Love nightclub. There appeared to be a dress code, but hardly anyone obeyed it. Honestly, Lucky strike was all about the $$ that night, so they didn’t enforce it.
Lucky Strike Bowling Lanes
Lucky strike made Bowl America look pathetic. The bowling lanes were top notch, plus a widescreen TV hovered over each line showing live ESPN TV. I was very impressed. The cost of renting a line was competitive, and very affordable if you arrived a medium sized group. Drinks and snacks cost a reasonable amount, and it gives Lucky strike a unique selling proposition over most generic night bars.
Lucky Strike Lounge
The lounge area was the most highly trafficked area for two reasons: drinks and the women. Lucky strike sported a full bar with everything from Corona to Patron, and even non-alcoholic drinks for the sober over 21 crowd. Getting drinks was easy, and the wait lasted only a few minutes. Our party bought a round of Coronas for $6, which is pretty high. But hey, it’s DC on a saturday night. Lucky strike takes advantage of the capital status.
Surrounding the bar, you can sit in very comfortable cloth couches or stand while catching a view of the nightly games. There are 3 huge plasma televisions directly over the bar, along with 3 mini TVs placed in between them. Watching Lebron James catch an alleyoop looked almost surreal. Lucky Strike’s biggest highlight is definitely the bar setup.
Lively but Overcrowded
I couldn’t understand why Lucky strike failed to utilize all the available space in the bar. Many folks took up seats along the reserved booths, and some people stood in the walkways because of the limited seating. Either Lucky strike repleted their seating or the place was overcrowded. I believe in the ladder. Also, very few of the non-seating people bought any drinks. Lucky Strike could surely bank a bigger buck if they reorganized their seating structure and emphasized seats over style.
Hot Waitresses
EOE doesn’t apply to Lucky Strike. The waitresses were more attractive than most of the female guests. I can only imagine how the typical interview goes.
Interviewee: “Hi! I’d like to apply for a job”
Interviewer: “Okay. Please put on this outfit then come back. The dressing room is around the corner.”
…5 minutes later
Interviewee: “Okay. How do I look?”
Interviewer: …pauses for a long moment while staring at her cleavage. “Can you start on Tuesday?!?”
The Style Factor
Lucky strike appeals to a specific niche, particularly the 20-30 crowd who is fashionably and socially adept. Lucky Strike’s USP reminds me something of “Stay Hip. Refresh on Us.” Plus who doesn’t enjoy bowling a strike with a BAC of .17?
Lucky Striker Overall Rating
Overally, I give Lucky Strike Lanes 7 out of 10 stars. The atmosphere was buzzing and social. The facilities were top notch and highly sophisicated. Prices get fairly steep if you’re on a low budget, but that’s what credit cards are for, right? The women are hot, and the waitresses are even hotter. You can grab a smooth beer, watch the Wizards game in big screen High Def, and score a few leads for a weekend rendezvous.
